Meditation and Buddhism in Manchester
Welcome to the website for Vairochana Kadampa Buddhist Centre.
Our centre is a member of the New Kadampa Tradition founded by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. The centre based in Manchester has being running classes and courses since 1992. We are now based in Chorlton on High Lane.
Our website gives information on our weekly classes, day courses, workshops, open days and other events that we run on a regular basis.
Whether you are interested in Buddhist teachings or simply wish to learn some meditation techniques to use in your daily life the classes and courses at Vairochana Centre will be of benefit.
We all wish to experience peace and happiness and to be free from stress, anxiety and anger. Through training in meditation we can learn to cultivate peaceful and happy states of mind and free ourselves from stress, anxiety, anger and other painful states of mind.
"If our mind is peaceful, we shall be happy all the time, regardless of external conditions, but if it is disturbed or troubled in any way, we shall never be happy, no matter how good our external conditions may be. External conditions can only make us happy if our mind is peaceful. We can understand this from our own experience. For instance, even if we are in the most beautiful surroundings and have everything we need, the moment we get angry any happiness we may have disappears. This is because anger has destroyed our inner peace."
